What to do when kids are bored

what to do when kids are bored

I hate being bored and as an only child I often had to find my own source of entertainment which was usually computer games or reading in the winter and biking or walking in the woods in the summer.

So I can only imagine what it’s like to be a kid fascinated by just about anything and be bored.

I’ve compiled a list of websites that have great ideas for when a child is bored.

What do you do to help to keep your little one entertained?

Stay sane!

I like this article because it doesn’t have a parent coming to the rescue by providing an activity but instead gives ideas for kids to keep themselves entertained, and creativity and independence are important skills to develop. For me the best part of the article was that it was backed up by child experts like a child psychologist.

Can’t go wrong with the kids activity blog of course.

A little project that becomes an activity generator.  Pick a paper slip out of the jar and voila! Something to do!

A huge list of simple activities to do inside, great for rainy days. I especially like taking a stuffed animal for a walk around the house on a leash and drawing on a mirror with dry erase markers.

Some of these ideas are so creative.  I wish I could’ve done them as a kid.  My favorites are be a park ranger and investigate plants in your backyard, create an Olympic games with lawn activities like a sack race, or go on a treasure hunt.

I like this article because it has creative yet simple ideas I wouldn’t have thought of: slimy bag of gel, playing with jello, coloring inside a big box, contact paper window art, etc.

This article was great because all you have to do is look at the pictures on the page to get ideas.  No reading required.  Great when you’re in a hurry and need a quick idea.  If you need more info, just scroll over the image for a brief description.
